The response to the competition was very good this year, in all there were 85 entries. The award winners were selected by William Bartholomew Master of the Broderers' Company, Sara Meanwell and Claire Barret from Hand & Lock, Jane Sweet and Lynn Szygenda from the Embroiderers' Guild.

The selectors were impressed by the high standard of all the work entered, by the variety of ideas expressed and by how competently Members combine different hand embroidery techniques. The selection of the award winners and commended entries was based on the extent to which hand stitching had been used to interpret an idea inspired by the theme of trees.

The competition awards and the creation this gallery of pictures of all the entries on the Guild's web site is supported by a generous donation from the Broderers' Company.

We would also like to thank the following Members for joining in. We are pleased to feature all the entries on the Guild's web site.
