Our remit, expressed formally through our 'charitable aims', is to build awareness of stitch and textile art. We educate, encourage, inspire, and promote the achievement of excellence. This is a continuing journey. You may enter at any point.
The Guild welcomes people who are just getting started. You are the next generation of stitchers and textile artists. You may be forgiven for thinking that if it is called a 'Guild' it is stuffy, exclusive and you would not qualify. Nothing could be further from the truth. A warm welcome awaits.
We welcome those who are already stitching and are keen to do more or expand their horizons. Our courses and workshops are run primarily by 'EG Distance Learning' and our network of regional committees and branches. City and Guilds Levels 1 or 2 in hand and machine embroidery are always popular but available less and less in colleges and night-schools.
You could be a textile student or a professional artist. You may have your own business or are happy to act as a tutor or speaker from time to time. The 'Guild' welcomes you.
You could benefit from any of these activities. You could be a contributor and have the satisfaction of passing on your knowledge and skills to benefit others. You could be 5 to 95 (or more), male or female, with time to spare or time-poor... there is something here for you.
Please explore the site and return as often as you wish. You could of course Become a Member today.
