Permanent Exhibition

In our new home in Walton-on-Thames, Surrey, we now have a gallery space where we will soon be setting up a permanent exhibition of a selection of around 100 items from our unique museum collection, which will change periodically. This will allow our members to see more items from the Collection than ever before.

Exciting News - Touring exhibition

We are also in the process of arranging, in partnership with a number of sponsors, a touring exhibition of embroideries and textiles which will travel the country making the collection accessible to as wide an audience as possible.

About the collection

The Embroiderers' Guild museum houses a collection of over 11,000 embroidered objects. The collection is of national significance as a resource of inspiration for artists, and for the study of the material evidence of many cultures.

The embroideries in the collection have been gathered from around the world, and take many forms including costume, furnishings, decorative and non-functional textiles.

A particular strength of the collection is the holding of embroidery worked in Britain from the 16th century to the present day.
