 | Stitch, Cloth, Paper & Paint NEW!
Angie Hughes Pub. Search Press Price £14.99 hardback
Long time Guild Member Annette Collinge reviewed this book for us - I would recommend this book for someone who wants to be a little more experimental with fabric and thread, but perhaps lacks the confidence to dive in by themselves. A short introduction explains the author's background with a last paragraph that says what the book is about with gentle encouragement to experiment and reassurance that there are going to be projects to get you started. It is also reassuring to discover that the author was worried about experimenting with paint on fabric!
Chapters are clearly headed with excellent illustrations and I particularly like the tips in the little mauve boxes.
At the back, the author has included templates for her projects, which are very clearly explained with good requirement lists and easy to follow instructions; as are her earlier chapters, explaining how to achieve her painted, stitched backgrounds and embellishments.
I tend to judge a technique based book by whether I want to admire the book and leave it on the shelf or buy the book and have a go myself. This book undoubtedly fits the buy it and have a go category.
